Happy Beta-day

It’s Beta Time, Baby!
Today is the best day of my life! Early this morning, as the sun peeked over the horizon, Upwardly Mobile (UpMo), the Web’s first Career GPS, officially opened for BETA. A few hundred professionals—all MBA alumni from a small collection of leading graduate schools—took the plunge. They’re checking out the key features, exploring the paths of success professionals who’ve gone before them (we call those professionals UpModels), and learning how UpMo translates UpModels’ success formulas into tools, templates and daily actions for maintaining and even growing a career—even in this tumultuous economy.
Why are we doing this? We strive to democratize success … to enable people, anywhere, from any background, to walk in footsteps of greatness and achieve their professional and life goals by having a clear roadmap (read: plan) and the right ecosystem of relationships.
What’s our shtick? Your greatest risk during tough times is not unemployment; it’s the risk of losing career control and direction. Upwardly Mobile, affectionately known as UpMo, is an online, subscription-based Career GPS that gives you career control—control you retain no matter what the economy’s doing. UpMo helps you build and move along a long-term career roadmap using a career guidance system and practical action plans and success habits, delivered daily. Real career control is possible for you because we’ve reverse-engineered and unlocked the success formulas of high-earning, upwardly mobile professionals to enable you—no matter your background—to navigate your way to career success by following their steps. Delve into and purposefully follow the real stories, paths and habits of elite professionals. See the quantifiable impact of different educational, professional and life moves. Protect your most valuable asset—your career—by giving yourself career control. Give it a try. GPS your career!
Why is this important … why should you care? Most of us manage and track the important assets and events in our lives. We track the value of our home, the value of our retirement savings and our daily finances. We set related goals and plans: we’ll retire when we’ve accumulated “x” in wealth; we’ll sell when our home appreciates by “y.” Yet most of us don’t have that same clear set of objectives or goals for our career, which, ironically, is one of the few rapidly appreciating assets we have in life. We don’t manage our careers that way—not because we don’t want to—but because we lack the insight, practices and tools we need to target, track and measure daily progress against the big goals.
That’s UpMo. We help you define a career path, support you as you move along it and keep you on track through expected and unexpected career and life detours. The benefit—you don’t pay the price of getting lost. You’re empowered to orchestrate the steps to and between each career move. You learn the secrets of and are inspired by successful people—real people with real careers—who’ve been where you’re going. No more stumbling from job to job. No more wondering what your next move should be. We put success in clear sight by showing you a path someone else has walked, and then we help you make that path your own!
How do you get in? We’re excited! We’ve got a long list of people looking to get into our BETA program. But go ahead and submit a request to beta@upmo.com or through our website. We’re working hard to let as many people in as soon as possible.
